Rabbit Reviews: Mascara Party
I got to try a bunch of new mascara lately. Usually I am pretty picky with the kind of mascara I like, but Sephora is so generous with samples, I just had to try these. Some were awesome, some not so awesome. Here’s what I thought of each one:
I think this mascara is good but not impressive. It really lengthens and defines my lashes, but since it doesn’t thicken or volumize, they seem a bit thin. The formula also took pretty long to dry, meaning if I blinked, mascara smeared all over the place. Even though I liked the plastic brush, it seemed like it had too much product on it. Overall, just an average mascara.

blinc Mascara Amplified
This mascara is pretty sweet and I think “Amplified” is a great way to describe it. After using it, it looked like I had a thousand lashes. The tube is also designed so the brush always has the right amount of product, so applying it to your lashes is super easy. (No clumps!) The only thing I wish it did was make my lashes look a little thicker.

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
I’ve probably reviewed this mascara before and I have mixed feelings about it. This product is on a lot of people’s Holy Grail lists, too. The formula is more wet that I’d prefer, which means you need to be careful about clumps. I always need to use a lash comb with it. (I actually prefer using it about a month after opening, since the formula gets drier) However, when you apply it well, your lashes do look gorgeous and they stay gorgeous all day. It’s just a hassle to get it right.

bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara
Wow, I really do adore this mascara. It reminds me a lot of my current favorite (CoverGirl Clump Crusher) because it has a slightly dry formula and thanks to its plastic brush, it defines your lashes and there are no clumps. It does volumize a little, but it really works best for length and definition. Your lashes also stay pretty soft. The only downside is that it weighed down the curl in my lashes pretty quickly.

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
It advertises that it will give you over the top lashes, like a manga (Japanese comic book) character. As an avid manga reader, I had to try it. I was slightly disappointed, though. This mascara is super duper wet and if you’re not careful, it will clump your lashes to all hell. I need to wipe off the brush before using it. It also tends to flake off by the end of the day. This mascara is definitely not worth the trouble it is to apply.
