Glam Bag - June

Wow, what a glittery bag! My whole desk area is glittery now because that’s where I opened this package. Let me just say, I am super impressed by this month’s Glam Bag. Even though there are only four products, there are two full sized ones and the other two “sample sizes” are actually quite large. (Plus, adorable bag that could be a clutch) Here’s what I think of the products so far:

  • NYX Round Lipstick - Let me start off by saying this is a good lipstick. I like NYX products and this lipstick is creamy and pigmented. Now, unfortunately, this color doesn’t suit me very well. I got the shade Orange Soda which is a very pale, nude orange color. I would never wear this on a daily basis but I don’t have any nude lipsticks right now, so I’m saving it for times when I wear a really smoky/bold eye. I think then it could potentially be flattering.
  • Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen - Woohoo, eyeliner! I have to admit, I’m really bad with eyeliner pens. I have a pretty shaky hand and a lot of skin on my eyelids, so I haven’t quite mastered eyeliner precision yet. I’m excited that it’s black, since I don’t have one right now, and I know this is a great opportunity to practice!
  • Living Proof Frizz Nourishing Style Cream - I was pretty excited to get this one because my hair has been a bit dried out and frizzy lately. However, my hair is also super fine so I was afraid of this product weighing it down. After using it once, I think this product is actually pretty good. My hair was smooth and frizz-free when I styled it, and even later, in humidity, no frizz has appeared. However, my hair is getting slightly oily and weighed down earlier in the day, so I may have to use less product than maybe someone with thicker hair would use.
  • Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Gel Cream Moisturizer - I haven’t used this product yet but I’ve always had good experiences with Philosophy creams. Since this is oil-free, I may use it underneath my make up in areas where I need a little extra moisture without greasiness.

Rabbit Reviews: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

In the first Glam Bag (December 2011), they gave everyone a full size NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. Ever since then, I’m convinced that this lip cream is the best matte lip product on the market. And at only $6 a tube, it’s totally worth to buy a few to include in your make up collection! You can buy them from NYX Cosmetics directly, ULTA or even Amazon, just to name a few places.

I currently own two shades, Amsterdam and San Paulo. (See pictures below!) Amsterdam is a bright apple-y kind of red with cool undertones. San Paulo is like a berry rosy pink color. They’re both really vibrant and beautiful, not sheer at all! (However, if you want them to be sheer, apply with your fingers)

What I love about these lip creams is the great color pay off and their staying power. I like to put some on, blot and then put some more on, and it dries super quickly and stays for most of the day, even through eating and drinking and kissing. They don’t dry out your lips at all, although I wouldn’t call them moisturizing.

I may buy a few more colors, just because I love them so much and they’re so inexpensive! They come in 11 great shades, named after the international cities they are inspired from.
