Michelle Phan - Water Lily Nails

This nail tutorial by Michelle Phan is absolutely gorgeous. She took Monet’s water lily paintings as an inspiration and basically recreated the paintings on her nails using nail polish. Crazy, right? (No surprise, but Michelle is actually a pretty good artist) She says in the video that this look is really “easy” but I can barely make little hearts on my nails, never mind an entire painting!

Even though this looks beautiful on all her nails, it’s probably easier to do this on only one accent nail (like on your ring finger) and paint the rest the sky blue color. Also, I’m sure having longer nails helps as well.

Michelle Phan - Quick Tips: Foundation Application

This is a great video showing the results of different ways of applying foundation. She uses a lemon as an example, since the pores of a lemon and our face’s pores are very similar. She comes to the conclusion that the best way to apply is with a brush.

I use BB cream or tinted moisturizer everyday, but I always use my fingers. I used a brush today instead (because of this video) and didn’t see much of a difference, although it’s probably because BB creams and the such tend to be more forgiving than liquid foundation.

An important thing to take away from this video is that, even though Michelle is showing a great reason to use a brush for foundation, it’s important that you put on and wear make up in a way that’s comfortable for you! Regardless of what kind of advice make up gurus give, remember that it’s just advice and there’s nothing wrong with doing it your own way.

Michelle Phan - Natural Parisian Look

I find 90% of make up tutorials on YouTube to be completely unwearable. (Even though they may be beautiful and perfectly executed) I mean, let’s face it, for everyday work and play, I just want something nice and natural. When I’m going out to the club or a party, that’s when I’ll try out all their fancy looks.

That’s why I really appreciate it when great make up gurus post videos with lovely natural looks that anyone can do. What Michelle does in this video is what I consider to be the perfect everyday look. (Plus, I am so jealous of her fantastic hair)
